Amigas ("Amigas", "we", "us") is a women-only friendship app. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to the Amigas mobile app and our website — including if you sign up on our website to hear about our launch.
Amigas is the "data controller" responsible for your information. You can reach us any time at contact@amigas.click.
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code (we do not store a password).
- Profile information: your name, date of birth (used to show your age and confirm you are 18 or over), a short bio, interests, languages, your neighbourhood, your answers to profile prompts, and — only if you choose to add them — optional details such as whether you have children (and their ages) and your relationship status.
- Photos: the profile photos you upload.
- Content you create: messages you send (including in group-activity chats), coffee invites, profile prompts, group activities you host or join, and any reports you submit about other members.
Information we collect automatically
- Approximate location: to suggest members near you, we store a coarse, area-level location (a "geohash"). We never store or share your exact GPS coordinates.
- Device and usage data: basic app-usage events and device information through Google Analytics for Firebase, which we use to understand how the app is used and to improve it. IP addresses are anonymised. We only collect this with your consent, which you can give or withdraw at any time in Settings.
- Notification token: if you turn on notifications, a device token so we can send them.
Our launch waitlist
Before Amigas is available in your city, you can ask us to let you know when it launches. If you sign up on our website, we collect:
- your email address, so we can contact you;
- the city you'd like Amigas in, so we can tell you when we launch there and understand where the demand is; and
- your name — only if you choose to give it (this is optional).
We use this solely to send you launch and early-access updates about Amigas, on the basis of your consent. We do not use it for anything else, and we do not sell it. We send these emails through our email service provider. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send you, or by contacting us at contact@amigas.click; we delete your waitlist details once you unsubscribe, or once we no longer need them for this purpose.
How we use your information
- To create and run your account and show your profile to other members.
- To suggest compatible members for your daily picks, based on shared interests, languages, neighbourhood, and age.
- To run group activities (where available): while an activity is open, it is visible to every member of the app — so any member can see the activity and the name, photo, age, and neighbourhood of its host and the members who have joined, until it is closed. Messages you post in an activity's group chat are visible to the other attendees of that activity.
- To keep Amigas safe — including automated photo checks (see below) and reviewing blocks and reports.
- To send you the messages, invites, and notifications that are part of the service.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To meet our legal obligations and to enforce our Terms.
Photo moderation
To keep the community safe, every photo you upload is automatically checked for explicit content using Google Cloud Vision before it goes live. Photos that are clearly explicit are rejected automatically; the rest are published. This check is automated. If you believe a photo was rejected by mistake, contact us at contact@amigas.click.
Legal bases (for EU/EEA and UK users)
We rely on: performing our contract with you (to provide the app); your consent (for analytics, approximate location, and push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (keeping the community safe and preventing abuse); and legal obligations where they apply.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who run the app on our behalf: Google (Firebase and Google Cloud — sign-in, database, storage, analytics, photo moderation, notifications; and Google Fonts, which may serve fonts to your device) and Resend (sending your sign-in emails). They may only process your data on our instructions.
- Other members — any member of Amigas can see the profile information and photos you choose to share, not only your daily picks; in a group activity, they are also visible to the other attendees.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect the safety of our members.
International transfers
Some of our service providers store and process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States and other countries. Where your information is transferred outside the EU/EEA or the UK to a country that is not covered by an EU or UK "adequacy" decision, we protect that transfer using safeguards approved by the regulators: the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum, and, for transfers to certified US providers, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently and immediately delete your profile, your photos, your account, and related personal data.
Two things are handled differently:
- Messages you have already sent stay visible in the other person's chat history, but they are stripped of your identity — your name shows as "Deleted user" and your photo is removed. We do this because the conversation also belongs to the other person; we cannot erase their side of it.
- Safety and moderation records — such as reports involving you and blocks other members have made against you — are kept as a security and legal record, even after your account is gone.
We may also retain limited information where the law requires it.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our use of your personal information, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You can:
- Edit your profile information directly in the app.
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account.
- Contact us at contact@amigas.click for any other request.
If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, www.aepd.es; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office, www.ico.org.uk).
Security
We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls enforced by our database security rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your information safe.
Children
Amigas is only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 is using Amigas, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will always update the date above, and for significant changes we will take reasonable steps to let you know — for example, by a notice in the app or by email.
